Rather than bore you with my vacation photos, I will tell the story of the holiday through the Zombie Lapdance lens. In other words, picture of fish, weird animals, and strange food.<\/p>\n<p>I can&#8217;t take much credit for the bonitos that were caught, it was someone else&#8217;s gear, but I was perfectly happy to reel in the little fish and take some photos.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/bb\/weblogs\/upload\/5\/15453668494d22454890d87.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/>\t<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/bb\/weblogs\/upload\/5\/8303104104d224584110bf.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/bb\/weblogs\/upload\/5\/6275210684d2245b2a2464.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dolphins? Yeah, there were stinking dolphins.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/bb\/weblogs\/upload\/5\/7682033454d223a6bc5238.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>All the locals were amazed that turtles hatched this late in the year. It&#8217;s something that folks in Belize pay attention to.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/bb\/weblogs\/upload\/5\/12969584384d2244ed03211.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I would like to introduce you to the biggest and ugliest hermit crab in the world.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/bb\/weblogs\/upload\/5\/19902936834d224686a015a.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><br \/>\nIf you jostled it, the crab would retract into the shell so fast that the sudden jerk would almost knock it out of your hands.<\/p>\n<p>There are a bunch of osprey in Belize. <br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/bb\/weblogs\/upload\/5\/12460189214d224621721d5.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When we had dinner at the Secret Garden restaurant in Placencia, a starfruit tree hung over the table. This fruitbat only liked the over-ripe starfruit.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/bb\/weblogs\/upload\/5\/20993245734d223a9992c59.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><br \/>\nIt was directly over my head when I took this picture.<\/p>\n<p>The food in Belize was disappointingly normal. The grocery stores contained a lot of American foods, with a few digressions into Salvadoran snacks that I&#8217;ve bought here in Austin, like these Carnavalitos and Cheetos-esque snacks.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/bb\/weblogs\/upload\/5\/9080750074d224154c610a.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><br \/>\nThe Carnavalitos were just colored popcorn with a sugary coating.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/bb\/weblogs\/upload\/5\/6961258894d22407dcafb5.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Valentones were also fairly standard, flour chicharrones with lime and chile flavoring.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/bb\/weblogs\/upload\/5\/14871086234d223e864ee7f.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><br \/>\nDon&#8217;t worry, they cost $2 of Belizian currency, which in USD is closer to $1.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/bb\/weblogs\/upload\/5\/6308477014d223d59e3b15.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These lemon wafers came all the way from Sri Lanka.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/bb\/weblogs\/upload\/5\/34510934d223cfdca045.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Julia found these fried plantain chips at the Belize City international airport.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/bb\/weblogs\/upload\/5\/164148284d2242727f023.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><br \/>\nThey tasted much like potato chips, in the sense that they were crispy, salty and oily, but they had a hint of fruity flavor that potato chips only wished they had.<\/p>\n<p>At the restaurant off the Placencia main drag I had a seaweed shake.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/bb\/weblogs\/upload\/5\/14884738774d2244c0a6bdc.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><br \/>\nIt tasted almost exactly like a frozen eggnog.<\/p>\n<p>This is all I can show you of the Intenso.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/bb\/weblogs\/upload\/5\/16040624534d223bf939f77.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><br \/>\nAn image of the cookies themselves would be too much for you to handle.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I spent last week bumming around in Belize with Julia, my food-frakking deputy, and some family.
