Only someone who obsesses over minuscule details could have constructed such an elaborate thing. <br><br>The story presents a complete pantheon of gods in a complex, inviting fantasy world. In that brilliantly detailed setting, the story involves a mystery about dead gods and a teen who gets in over his almost instantly. <br><br>I am just now, with this book, discovering Frances Hardinge. Luckily for all of us, Hardinge has written more books, which I have sought out after reading this one. <br><br>I suggest you likewise seek out her other books. I would also suggest creating Dungeons &amp; Dragons game statistics for the gods herein because they are perfect for Dungeon Masters to kill your players with.  <br><br>You could, of course, make D&amp;D stats and read Hardinge&#8217;s other books. Both ways, you&#8217;re doing something valuable for yourself and for other humans.<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B07YSLY61W\/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&amp;btkr=1\">The Book of Dragons<\/a><br><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"313\" height=\"475\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/revblogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/52583994._SX318_SY475_-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-457\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/revblogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/52583994._SX318_SY475_-1.jpg 313w, https:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/revblogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/52583994._SX318_SY475_-1-198x300.jpg 198w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 313px) 100vw, 313px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Anthologies by their nature are fickle creatures. Sometimes they are mostly delightful, while sometimes they can be irritatingly bad with maybe two good stories. <br><br>The Book of Dragons defies such anthological expectation. It&#8217;s really good throughout. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All the authors have interesting takes on the subject matter, from poetry to fables to swords and sorcery. My personal favorite is Scott Lynch&#8217;s &#8220;Maybe Just Go Up There and Talk To It.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I must award points to the title, a bold proclamation. THE book of dragons! When I searched for it on the webs, I found a veritable plethora of books claiming to be the book of dragons, but none with such a large font. So there you have it. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But for those who don&#8217;t generally choose books based on cover font size, the luminaries within include Jane Yolen, Ken Liu, Kelly Barnhill, Beth Cato, Peter Beagle, Michael Swanwick, Theodora Goss, and more than a dozen more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Corporate-Gunslinger-Novel-Doug-Engstrom-ebook\/dp\/B07XY6448W\/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&amp;keywords=corporate+gunslinger&amp;qid=1593984207&amp;sr=8-2#customerReviews\">Corporate Gunslinger<\/a> by Doug Engstrom<\/strong><br><br><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-medium\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/revblogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/2124553526-199x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-454\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/revblogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/2124553526-199x300.jpeg 199w, https:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/revblogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/2124553526-679x1024.jpeg 679w, https:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/revblogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/2124553526-768x1158.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/revblogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/2124553526.jpeg 958w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 199px) 100vw, 199px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This one is a brilliant, Twilight Zone-style speculation about a future ruled by corporate greed. It&#8217;s brutal and violent, and it&#8217;s smart and deep, too.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s tough to get into why this premise works so well without spoilers. It takes aim at a societal ill while also being a deeply personal story with a female hero.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;ll make you ask questions, and that&#8217;s the best stuff that speculative fiction does (besides exploding spaceships).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Highly recommended.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Heir-Ra-Blood-Book-One-ebook\/dp\/B07GDSK23D\">Heir of Ra<\/a> by M. Sasinowski<br><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"> This book is so fun. It&#8217;s an <em>India<\/em>na <em>Jones<\/em> movie and a <em>National Treasure <\/em>movie and <em>The Mummy <\/em>and tons of other fun action flick-style stories in convenient book form.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The author clearly, absolutely loves what they&#8217;re doing.
