Why do I dread the upcoming summer movie season?

And some flick about a guy who "does whatever a spider can". And I’m sure I’m missing a few more.

They all sound fantastic (FF2!), just the kind of fare a rabid middle-aged technonerd such as myself would find eminently palatable. And, for the first time in several centuries, I have a bit of spendable cash with which to view these fine offerings.

So, why am I cringing at the thought of walking into my local metroplex (which is only eight minutes up the road from my humble abode, no trouble in terms of travel)? There’s a part of me that loathes going out into public period, because I’ve always been terminally shy and unexpressive in the real world. Or it could be that prices have become so frelling outrageous (ten bucks to walk in the door alone, as much as twenty more to buy Ye Olde Concessiones). Or it could be the crowds, increasingly rude and ignorant of the rules of common civility (cellphone conversations ad nauseum, kiddies running up and down the aisles, while ushers busy themselves with the arduous task of hitting on girls). r it could be that too many movies these decades have been, well, CRAP. (Several offerings from Messr. Lucas come quickly to mind.) Or it could be that I’m a lazy bastich…

All in all, I dunno. I’ll end this by saying that I’m going to see 28 Weeks Later. And Spidey 3. *Eventually*. Pirates, there’s no question. You’ll e seeing me on CNN, te guy who rigged up a network of ropes so that he could swing across the theater during the commercials. No one should complain, I figure. I mean, who watches that crap anyway?
