Gotham Knight

[ Mood: Sleepy ]
This DVD landed on my doormat this morning. It is a set of six loosely related but separate episodes by different writers and anime directors.

This is a pretty solid set of stories and fills the gap nicely as we wait for the next movie to open. The stories don’t add too much for long time fans. They concentrate on Batman and different perceptions of him.

There are not many costumed villains in evidence – Killer Croc and Scarecrow appear in one story but don’t really do much or add anything. Deadshot has the most to do in the finale episode on the DVD.

It was interesting seeing the different takes on Batman but only two of the episodes were in what I consider to be a classic anime style. I was disappointed that it was quite short at only 70 minutes or so.

A strange release in a way as there is not much new for the dedicated fan but this treatment of the mythology of Batman may not appeal to newer fans.
