These are the playable cultures in The One Ring: Adventures Over the Edge of the Wild<\/em><\/a>. Most are detailed in the Adventurer’s Book<\/em>; the Men of the Lake are detailed in the Loremaster’s Screen and Lake-Town Sourcebook<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bardings<\/strong><\/h2>\n

<\/strong>The people of Dale, northmen of noble origins, tall and fair and strong. With their new ruler King Bard they work closely with the dwarves of the Lonely Mountain to rebuild their land after the long desolation of Smaug.<\/p>\n

Homeland:<\/em> Dale and the region around the Long Lake.<\/p>\n

Cultural blessing:<\/em> Stout-hearted (bonus to resisting fear).<\/p>\n

Dwarves of the Lonely Mountain<\/strong><\/h2>\n

<\/strong>The stout and clever kindred of Da\u00edn Ironfoot, the King Under the Mountain, proud to have reclaimed their home in the Lonely Mountain after living far away or wandering as traders and vagabonds for long years.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Homeland:<\/em> The Lonely Mountain.<\/p>\n

Cultural blessing:<\/em> Redoubtable (carry enormous burdens without fatigue).<\/p>\n

Elves of Mirkwood<\/strong><\/h2>\n

<\/strong>The immortal, magical people (although the word ‘magic’ means little to them) of the Woodland Realm, followers of King Thranduil. \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Homeland:<\/em> Thranduil’s realm in Mirkwood.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Cultural blessing:<\/em> Folk of the dusk (at an advantage at night, in a forest or underground).<\/p>\n

Men of the Lake<\/strong><\/h2>\n

<\/strong>Proud and hard-working merchants, fishers and craftsmen of Esgaroth, or Lake-town, rebuilt by their hands after the death of Smaug.<\/p>\n

Homeland:<\/em> Esgaroth on the Long Lake.<\/p>\n

Cultural blessing:<\/em> Tenacious (gain extra experience points when wounded or severely disappointed).<\/p>\n

\u00a0\"Heroic<\/a><\/div>\n

Beornings<\/strong><\/h2>\n

<\/strong>Followers of Beorn, a mighty hero who recently abandoned his isolation and became chief to a growing tribe of wanderers and warriors.<\/p>\n

Homeland:<\/em> The upper Anduin Vale around the Carrock, between Mirkwood and the Misty Mountains.<\/p>\n

Cultural blessing:<\/em> Furious (become mightier when wounded).<\/p>\n

\"Heroic<\/a><\/p>\n

Woodmen of Wilderland<\/strong><\/h2>\n

<\/strong>Hardy and wise frontiersmen in sparse, isolated villages and forts scattered across the lower Anduin Vale, from the edges of Mirkwood to the lower Misty Mountains.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Homeland:<\/em> The lower Anduin Vale.<\/p>\n

Cultural blessing:<\/em> Woodcrafty (bonus to defense when in the woods).<\/p>\n

Hobbits of the Shire<\/strong><\/h2>\n

<\/strong>Little people of a distant land beyond the Misty Mountains, rarely seen so far from their home. They are cheerful, hospitable, and industrious, distrustful of adventures and heroics but surprisingly brave in a pinch.<\/p>\n

Homeland:<\/em> The Shire.<\/p>\n

Cultural blessing:<\/em> Hobbit-sense (increase the company’s Fellowship, and gain a bonus to wisdom tests).<\/p>\n
