In Greenfields a goblin named Golfimbul came
\nTo fill up his larder and win goblin fame,
\nBut Golfimbul\u2019s goblins fled crying in shame
\nWhen a hobbit named Took with a stout club took aim!<\/p>\n

Old Bandobras Took was a hobbit renowned
\nFor towering over all hobbits around.
\nHis height every tailor\u2019s yardstick would confound:
\nA yard and a half from his toes to his crown!<\/p>\n

This leader of Tooks met Golfimbul one morn.
\nNo sword did he bear, with but cudgel adorned.
\nBut a swing and a thump and a goblin was shorn \u2014
\nAnd Golfimbul without his head was forlorn.<\/p>\n

Five goblins from chilly caves, bellies all ringing,
\nLay waiting in muck and then all came up springing \u2014
\nBut a hobbit-lad\u2019s knife and thrown rock all a-stinging
