Yeeeee haaaaw! I am Slim Pickens riding the A-bomb! It’s game night 6! (Now with pictures!)
———————————————–
Game night 6 was a crowded affair. We had a new face (wha’sup Ed), the KC crew and the locals, Team Cthulhu is growing mighty. There was enough sandwich and snack stuff on hand to feed a small army (in light of the heat, etc. the sandwich bar seemed to be the way to go). Libations were prepared and the game area made ready.
The KC crew, the host and I had to watch the train wreck which was the SciFi channel movie ‘Inferno’ before we could start. It was almost hypnotic in its’ badness. Once that was over, as usual we decided to open up with a round or two of Munchkin to get into the mindset.
When you use all the expansions you have a ridiculous amount of cards.
We played two rounds both won by this guy.
The straight up gangsta known as the M.I.T.C.H.
For a change up we decided to spend the rest of the night role play gaming instead of doing the board/card thing. (We’re just going to have to flat out say "this is a HorrorClix only night" to make HorrorClix happen.) With Craig running Year of the Zombie using the D20 Modern rule set. We’ve played this before and I have to say I really like what the YotZ folks are up to. D20 modern is a decent system as well I think and suits the game.
We drew random characters from a pile.
And discovered we were all special forces guys being sent on a mission into the Central American jungles to bag a terrorist leader and rescue some hostages. Helicopter sounds and Predator references followed. I was one of the co-leaders of the group (Cory was the main guy) and the groups’ doctor. After being shot down about a half a mile from where our dust off area was supposed to be we had to do some re-thinking about how we were going to approach the enemy stronghold and meet our mission objectives.
Fortunately we had some electronic intel and photos that helped us with some hard decisions.
Our host/tormentor made the action fast and furious when we hit the camp.
And I managed to take the leader down in the tunnels beneath the compound with a shot to the weapon hand (and a natural 20 roll, WOOT!). About this time the zombies showed up and things got REALLY tricky, terrorists on one side and the undead on the other.
About this time some of the crew needed to take off and we had to break the action. Did we find the hostages, will the undead devour us all, can we squeeze even more people into a basement? Check back for the next…
Game Night!
