This set of the big and small and odd of comicdom offers many gems. Deciding that I really should share some of these largely forgotten and sometime rare pieces, I&#8217;m taking you through a tour of the more interesting selections. <\/p>\n<p>\n<span style=\"font-size: 9px;line-height: normal\">Click on images for full sized versions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/picasaweb.google.com\/lh\/photo\/1vusBft-jyiBtAlF9Pp-UA?feat=directlink\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"postlink\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/bb\/weblogs\/upload\/16\/569790251496e03d7c3e7a.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/mrbiggs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"postlink\">Brian Biggs<\/a>&#8216;s 7 3\/4&quot; x 7 3\/4&quot; graphic novel <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrbiggs.com\/comics\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"postlink\"><span style=\"font-style: italic\">Frederick &amp;amp; Eloise<\/span><\/a> (Fantagraphics, 1993) remains one of the prides of my collection. Biggs expertly uses his  Gorey-esque stylings to relate this unusual, disturbing love story.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/picasaweb.google.com\/lh\/photo\/OvXcadcmCf6veImVr7UrtQ?feat=directlink\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"postlink\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/bb\/weblogs\/upload\/16\/1472393279496e053b452cf.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 9px;line-height: normal\">Page from <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Frederick &amp;amp; Eloise<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\nJudging from the book&#8217;s back cover, I wasn&#8217;t alone in my assessment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/picasaweb.google.com\/lh\/photo\/5qBgC_NmkW9rfSNPr_ihoA?feat=directlink\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"postlink\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/bb\/weblogs\/upload\/16\/1902402416496e03e50a7b2.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\nThe quality isn&#8217;t the only reason I hold this copy in high regard.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/picasaweb.google.com\/lh\/photo\/Slis1iwYMzXlos8R-doRKg?feat=directlink\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"postlink\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/bb\/weblogs\/upload\/16\/1698697180496e0550c7910.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 9px;line-height: normal\">Inscription from title page of my copy<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\nI first learned of Brian Biggs when he lettered &quot;Scales&quot; (written by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lewisshiner.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"postlink\">Lewis Shiner<\/a> Art by Carlos Kastro) in my anthology <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Modern Perversity<\/span> (Blackbird Comics, 1991).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/picasaweb.google.com\/lh\/photo\/wGk-qr1OJSZyUh6UOohm1A?feat=directlink\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"postlink\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/bb\/weblogs\/upload\/16\/672061736496e056050815.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 9px;line-height: normal\">Page from &quot;Scales&quot;, <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Modern Perversity<\/span> (Blackbird Comics, 1991) <br \/>\nWritten by Lewis Shiner Art by Carlos Kastro Letters by Brian Biggs<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\nSoon after, Brian sent me a proposal for <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Frederick &amp;amp; Eloise<\/span>.  Okay, actually, he sent me the entire book photocopied at the original art size of 3 3\/4&quot; x 4 1\/2&quot;! Through no fault of the creators, the entire project fell apart.
