Last week, I reprinted the first appearance of LemonHead<\/a> from 1994. I returned to the character and his candy-infused world for the thirteen week strip KandyLand<\/span>. It appeared in the weekly XLent<\/span><\/a>, a supplement to The Austin-American Statesman<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

This time artist Troy Gonzales<\/a> (under the nome de plume<\/span> Newt Manwich) joined me for the fun. <\/p>\n

While these stories are far from perfect, they hold up better then I remember. Interestingly as Troy’s art got stronger near the end of the run, my scripting faltered, but more on that later.<\/p>\n

My plan is to run a strip ever Wed for the next thirteen weeks. Hope you enjoy it. <\/p>\n

\nI don’t recall why I opted for the name KandyLand<\/span> for the strip. It could have been that the Statesman<\/span> was worried about me using the trademarked Lemonhead as the title for the strip or it could have been I was thinking I might want to tell other character’s stories. Most likely it was a combination of the two.<\/p>\n
