{"id":3717,"date":"2011-03-18T21:11:42","date_gmt":"2011-03-18T21:11:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/revblogs\/geekcurmudgeon\/2011\/03\/18\/an-interesting-and-entertaining-diversion-2\/"},"modified":"2011-03-18T21:11:42","modified_gmt":"2011-03-18T21:11:42","slug":"an-interesting-and-entertaining-diversion-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.revolutionsf.com\/revblogs\/geekcurmudgeon\/2011\/03\/18\/an-interesting-and-entertaining-diversion-2\/","title":{"rendered":"An interesting and entertaining diversion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After a particularly brutal week, thankfully <a href=\"http:\/\/www.movingpicturesnetwork.com\/24616\/limitless\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"postlink\">my only <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Moving Pictures<\/span> review of the week proved to be a good one<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<table width=\"90%\" cellspacing=\"1\" cellpadding=\"3\" border=\"0\" align=\"center\">\n<tr>\n<td><span class=\"genmed\"><b>Quote:<\/b><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"quote\">Evoking the groundbreaking visuals of \u201cFight Club,\u201d director Neil Burger (\u201cThe Illusionist\u201d), with the aid of Bradley Cooper, Abbie Cornish and Robert De Niro, delivers the dynamic superhero-without-capes thriller \u201cLimitless.\u201d<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p><span class=\"postbody\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.movingpicturesnetwork.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Limitless_BradleyCooper_500x333.jpg\" border=\"0\"\/><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<table width=\"90%\" cellspacing=\"1\" cellpadding=\"3\" border=\"0\" align=\"center\">\n<tr>\n<td><span class=\"genmed\"><b>Quote:<\/b><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"quote\">Adapted from Alan Glynn\u2019s novel \u201cThe Dark Fields,\u201d the screenplay by Leslie Dixon (\u201cThe Heartbreak Kid\u201d) affords plenty of tension as well as numerous philosophical and scientific diversions but lacks the moral core essential to this type of story. Few negative consequences occur from the acquisition of these amazing abilities, largely gained through questionable means. Eddie engages in very little thought about the responsibilities of his new powers. This lack of moralistic exploration prevents the very good \u201cLimitless\u201d from attaining greatness.
