According to the New York Times<\/span><\/a>, the “Tales of the Black Freighter” segments from Watchmen<\/span> will be released as a direct-to-DVD release.<\/p>\n

The second film, tentatively called \u201cTales of the Black Freighter,\u201d follows a side \u201cWatchmen\u201d storyline about a shipwreck and will arrive in stores five days after the main movie rolls out in theaters. The DVD will also include a documentary-style film called \u201cUnder the Hood\u201d that will delve into the characters\u2019 backstories.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n

The Times<\/span> sees this as an attempt to boost lagging DVD sales. Of course to us geeks, it\u2019s just cool that the pirate story will be shot at all.<\/p>\n
