Back in August over at Blastr<\/strong>, I interviewed\u00a0\u00a0Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost<\/a> about The World’s<\/i><\/strong> End.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Similar to the other films, enjoyment of\u00a0The World’s End<\/em>\u00a0does not rely on a prior knowledge of its antecedents. \u201cThere are no Cliffs Notes you need to read before seeing this movie,\u201d explained Wright. Though he readily admitted that the social science fiction genre influenced the picture. American movies such as the original incarnations of\u00a0Invasion of the Body Snatchers<\/em>,\u00a0The Stepford Wives\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Invaders From Mars;\u00a0<\/em>the film adaptations of British literature such as John Wyndham (Midwich Cuckoos,<\/em>\u00a0which became\u00a0Village of the Damned<\/em>), John Christopher, and Nigel Kneale (The Quatermas<\/em>\u00a0series); and the legendary U.K. TV shows\u00a0Dr. Who<\/em>,\u00a0The Avengers\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0The Prisoner<\/em>\u00a0all influenced the story. \u201cSo much of this is such a big part of our upbringing. And coming from small towns and you have an overactive imagination, that’s when you want to imagine it’s happening all around you,\u201d concluded Wright.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
