Looks like the Dharma Initiative stole the show at the LOST SDCC panel this year.

Well, they're going to leave us hanging about whether or not the plan worked. Bleh.

Has everyone seen it yet?

*SPOILERS*
*
*
*
*
*
From the moment they started talking about their plan to prevent "the incident" I figured it was destined to fail, or at least actually be the cause of the incident. That Miles was the only one who realized that might be a possibility really annoyed me. The very end kind of felt anticlimactic to me. After all, Eloise Hawking knew everything that was going to happen eventually to her son, which means he was pretty much destined to die. There was no "variable." That was just wishful thinking. Juliet probably died in vain, assuming she's actually dead (she could always be thrown out of sync with time like Desmond was).

However, all the stuff that happened in the present intrigued me. I liked the shots of Jacob throughout the characters' lives, subtly manipulating things. It starts to show how maybe all the random coincidences throughout the show's history maybe weren't so random at all. Everything was manipulated, but to what purpose.

Also, since Jacob seems to be almost omniscient at some points, I think he knew from the beginning that he was going to die (again, if he's really dead. You can never tell on this show anymore.)

Miles has always thought time travel would work the way *I* think it would work: people who go to the past were already part of history rather than becoming part of a new history.

But they're very strongly suggesting that history can be changed, and if Faraday's plan really works, then that's some lazy writing. I suppose it's better than "they're all dead" or "it's all just a dream," but it's just another flavor of that same lame "it didn't really happen, so we don't have to explain it" excuse.

They've strongly suggested in past episodes that you can try to change things that are destined but they have a way of correcting themselves. Desmond couldn't keep himself from getting trapped on the island, and Charlie still ended up dying despite numerous attempts not to. I really don't think they succeeded in doing anything more than getting the Dharma Initiative really pissed at them.

So who else is watching? I know Mark Finn is, but I don't know if he bothers with this place any more.

Mark's still on staff - and I believe working on something Lost related - but I don't believe he visits the boards.

I made it halfway though on the mighty DVR, before the kids woke up...very good, I realize how much I miss it when it's not on.

So do we think that Jack had a [spoiler] in the original timeline, or do we think it's a change like Locke's having [spoiler] in his life now?

I think it is a shell game personally. Alt timeline is going to vanish.

OK, so Hurley's visions of dead people aren't hallucinations.

How many more mysteries are left to be answered?

Best guess, as an irregular viewer of the show: the final scene pans from the cerulean sky over the island down into a suburban subdivision, closing on the window of a home like every other in the neighborhood. We cut through the window and down, to a boy playing with action figures amongst piles of alphabet blocks and blankets.

The boy is Aaron, previously believed to have been born on the island. We see now, the island has been a creation of his mind all along...

I'm really hoping it's not something so lazy as that.

Color me shocked--the USA TODAY review is saying the Lost finale was actually quite good.

Could it actually be good enough that I might go back and watch this show?
