This one is OK. As suggested by the subtitle, this first chapter centers around the vampires of the Cirque du Freak, although the ending suggests that not all future installments will be about vampires.

John C. Reilly didn't really seem to be into his character at times. He has a couple of the best lines in the movie, but other times he just seems to be copying the manner of speaking that so many movie vampires have had, and it falls a little flat.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Patrick Fugit's name in the opening credits. He's a bit underutilised in this film, but this one was mostly about the vamps.

Mntl you need to write a review for the main site. Come to the darkseid. We used to have cookies, but then the economic downturn hit. Now we have imaginary cookies. Any flavour you want.

I think they are calling this one 'The Vampire's Apprentice' now. Same cast and everything though.

Well, the subtitle is emphasized more so than the main title, because the vampire is probably half the reason this movie was allowed to be made. The full title of the movie is Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Apprentice, and it's my understanding that it's part of a series of Cirque books.

I chose to use the main title alone cause I'm about damn sick of vampires.

I have not seen the film but the books, while there are other supernatural creatures in them, do in the main concentrate on a power struggle within the wider community of vampires.

My wife and youngest are crazy mad for the cirque stories. The wife reads the books while the youngling reads the manga version (yes, you heard that right. Pointy hair and everything!) and so they were both hyped for this movie. I don't think it lived up to their expectations, but considering how excited they were, how could it?

It was a fun movie, I like John C. Riley. It was kind of nice to see him play against type.

His costuming was pretty wild, too. He looked like Doctor Who's dirty backwoods cousin.

MattWolf, the more I read your stuff, the more I think you need to write for the site. If you already aren't.

Well, I did one movie review and I'm currently working on a Doctor Who article that may or may not be amusing.

My main problem is that I live so deeply in the bushes that I am ridiculously far from the cutting edge. Anything I submit will have to be about the DVD releases or somesuch.
