MackJ of the Truth and Beauty Bombs forums thought he'd try an experiment. He would take old Garfield comic strips and remove Garfield's thought bubbles. The results are hilarious. It improves the comics by tenfold.

Quote:
Garfield changes from being a comic about a sassy, corpulent feline, and becomes a compelling picture of a lonely, pathetic, delusional man who talks to his pets. Consider that Jon, according to Garfield canon, cannot hear his cat's thoughts. This is the world as he sees it. This is his story.

You can read the comics here. (14 pages and counting!)

Here's a collection of a few of my favorites:

Man, when you're right, you're right. I've loathed Garfield for many years, but those were damn good, and not just as a lark--they're excellent absurdist cartoons.

Pretty good, and a rather disturbing take on America's favorite marketing ploy.

But if I want absurdist cartoons, I've got TeamSpecialOlympics.com marked on my favorites.

Sort of in the same spirit as this: Joe Mathlete Explains Today's Marmaduke

Marmaduke's owner-girl tries to dissuade him from fucking a dog one-quarter his size through the power of rhyme.

Alien Loves Predator

This joke could've been used in any variety of circumstances, but once you involve action figures of popular culture icons, the funniness escalates quickly.

Every strip is like those two-three second non-sequitors on Robot Chicken. Even the break comics make me smile.

Good times, if you find yourself with forty hours of your life that you don't need.
