The Academy Awards announced plans to continue to bore the world savagely, when they announced their choice of this year's host: Whoopi Goldberg.

What was wrong with last year's host, Steve Martin? Steve rules. He made the Oscars fly by -- it only seemed like it lasted 7 hours. With Whoopi, it's going to seem like 16 hours, and not a second less.
Freakin' Guinan. "But what's in your GUT, Jean-Luc?"
