Bryan Singer is directing the new X-Men movie, and he talks all about that here.
The movie is called Days of Future Past, after the X-comic book storyline where in the future, giant robots take over and try to wipe out mutants. Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart and Ian Mckellen will play Wolverine, Professor X and Magneto again, and young Professor X and Magneto from X-Men First Class. will also be afoot.
Singer was asked about X-movie continuity since Brett Ratner did the third one,
X-Men: The Last Stand.. "What you're politely saying is, 'Fix shit.' There's going to be a little of that, a few things I can repair."
He said the movie is about "time displacement," which is what the comic was about. Future Kitty Pryde from the giant robot future beamed her brain back in time to possess her young self to stop an anti-mutant senator from being assassinated, which would lead to the robo-pocalypse. That's the story. You have to read it, or I question your ability to process awesomeness.
Most of the movie takes place in the early 1970s, Singer said. Coincidentally, that's the last time X-Men comics were good. BOOM. Oh no I didn't.
Singer revealed the X-Men movie cast on his Twitter., including Peter Dinklage from Game of Thrones. He wouldn't commit to Cyclops and Jean Grey coming back. Telling us everything about the movie is what we want, but not what we need.
The movie comes out July 2014. That is more than enough time for us to hope and beg for another appearance by Gambit.
