There was a Firefly reunion panel at Comic-Con 2012. Approximately everyone thought Firefly was being revived, thanks to a report about the panel.
Here's the full report. The story now has a retraction from the writer. She really thought she had stumbled on awesome news. I would have done the same thing.
Here comes the wet blanket: splop.
Joss Whedon, the Firefly cast, and the Science Channel (which shows Firefly reruns) were being smarty-pants. To many readers of that story, it didn't translate.
Whedon is a renowned smarty-pants. This is what he does. Our spazzing benefits him, so this encourages him to make us spaz further.
This happened before. When Nathan Fillion said he would buy the rights to Firefly, people started sending him money.
The lesson here is not to take things with a grain of salt, because grains of salt taste terrible.
If Firefly is really coming back, the Internet will be the first place you'll hear about it. The down-side of that is, if another misunderstanding happens, the Internet will be the first place you hear about it.
The lesson is to investigate further. The lesson is to come to RevolutionSF on Facebook and on the Twitter.
And quit forwarding images that have bad spelling in them! That's a different lesson.
