Star Wars clothes for women are coming soon, and fans can thank Ahsoka, the teen Jedi trainee on the Clone Wars cartoon.
That's because Ashley Eckstein, the actress who does the voice of Ahsoka, is in charge of the whole thing. She got the license from Lucasfilm to design Her Universe, a line of Star Wars clothes for the ladies.
I was sure that ladies already had Star Wars merchandise. Was it only guys wearing all that stuff all this time?
Maybe that's because there are only four women who have major roles in the entire Star Wars universe. That's if you count Ahsoka on the cartoon. And if you count Mon Mothma. There are more in the books, but the books are not the movies. So, really it's just Leia and her mom Amidala.
Here's the Her Universe site, with Eckstein modeling the stuff. It goes on sale this fall.
Eckstein said, she did this for female fans, to "affirm that they play an important role in the world of Star Wars and science-fiction."
What she didn't say is that, clearly, she wants women to have something warmer and more comfortable to wear than Slave Leia costumes.
Ashley Eckstein is creative and proactive. The other voice actors don't do crap. Where are your T-shirts, Anthony Daniels?
