Fright Night
Buffy producer Marti Noxon will remake
Fright Night. She's a writer on
Mad Men now, but obviously she has plenty of spare time. The remake will "keep the comedy-horror tone while modernizing the effects."
"Modernizing the effects"? Come on, remake. You can do better than that. That isn't remakey enough.
Let's check out the trailer for the original. Yep, better take all that stuff out.
Exorcist
William Peter Blatty told Cemetery Dance magazine that he whomped up a miniseries version of
Exorcist. (
Order the issue here.)
Blatty said William Friedkin agreed to direct, and he wrote some "rather spooky new material," and a "totally new (and perhaps much more satisfying) ending."
More satisfying? So he's definitely putting in a Bollywood dance number.
Gattaca
Gattaca will be a TV series, by writer Gil Grant from
NCIS Los Angeles and
24. The movie was about eugenics, with Valids (the elite class) and the downtrodden Invalids.
He said the show will be about a Valid cop partnered with an Invalid. He said the original director Andrew Niccol is not involved: "I don't know him," Grant said. Ouch!
I hope every episode is like the movie, where it makes me think, then somebody incinerates himself.
