First American Writer Gets Jack Trevor Story Prize, Ambushed by Moorcock

Michael Moorcock presented the Jack Trevor Story Memorial Prize, to Howard Waldrop at ArmadilloCon. Waldrop is the first American writer to get the prize, about $1000.

Moorcock gives out the prize named for the British novelist. Moorcock explained the prerequisites for the award are that "the money shall be spent in a week to a fortnight and the author have nothing to show for it."

Moorcock delivered it to Waldrop in a thermos. That is awesome.

Urban Fantasy: We Better Like It

Urban fantasy books are keeping the science fiction and fantasy book business afloat, a publisher says.

All the writers of the vampires and the werewolves and the detectives and the werewolf vampire detectives would tell us "you're welcome." But they are too busy filling in blanks using the Fantasy Book -- o -Tron.

Drug Runners Used Comics For Evil

This is just wrong. Some meth dealers laundered drug money using high-price collector comics. One was worth $3,500. Hopefully the comics will find a good home with some nice nerds.

The drug runners could have smuggled way more drugs if they bought a zillion Spawn comics from the 1990s. They could get them cheap, and no one would ever look in them.

RevolutionSF's Joe Crowe wishes he could keep fluids warm.
