Sci-Fi Remake Newsblast investigates and prosecutes sci-fi movie and TV remake news. Up yours, original ideas!
Battlestar Galactica
Bryan Singer
will re-remake Battlestar Galactica as a movie. The link includes concept art that didn't get used for the 2001 Sci-Fi Channel remake by Singer that never happened.
Nobody knows anything else, because the only thing that's happened is Singer signed up.
I love when Hollywood does that. They roll out a big announcement with no work done and nothing to show anyone. It's like saying a pizza party is coming, but you don't know when it will be, you haven't invited anyone, and you don't have any pizza.
Excalibur
And also Bryan Singer might
someday remake Excalibur.
Here's the trailer for the original. Bonus: Trailer has "O Fortuna" in it. It's "forged of splendor and magic."
This time they admit it's "Singer's involvement is still in the talking stage." In other words, he has not really signed up to do it. This happens all the time, but now you know as much of the non-story as there is. So you can be all aloof when everyone else freaks about how they better not mess up the remake of Excalibur.
Yellow Submarine
And Bryan Singer is also remaking
Yellow Submarine!
Really, he isn't. But he's not technically doing the ones I just noted either, so this news isn't that far from true.
The real remaker is Robert Zemeckis, from Back to the Future.
He wants it to be performance capture and 3-D. I hope it's in Creepy Ass Motion Capture like Polar Express. But then, the original Yellow Submarine is pretty scary, too. The terrible flying glove!
