Trailer Probe : Hot Tub Time Machine

July 27, 2009

Trailer Probe watches sci-fi-ish movie trailers to help you waste your computer time wisely.

Hot Tub Time Machine

Dork disengagement level: John Cusack? Why is he in this movie? Shouldn't he be crying in the rain?

The last movie John Cusack was in, he played a dad whose wife is a soldier killed in Iraq, and he lies to his children about her death. I hope this is funnier.

So, um, what is this movie about?

The trailer makes it appear that it really is about a hot tub time machine. But I have been wary about movie titles ever since there were no steel magnolias in Steel Magnolias.

Geek explosion content: "It must be . . . some kind of hot tub time machine."

They go back in time to the '80s, which is always a good time.

The trailer has the song "Obsession" by Animotion. That band again: Animotion.

The nerdy guy (Clark Duke) tells why he is an expert on time travel. If you can only watch one part of one trailer, watch that one.

Geek explosion level: 600,000 geek parts per million.
