December 12, 2008

Bettie Page, legendary pinup model and actress, died at age 80. She became a genre culture status symbol in the 1980s thanks to a revival of interest in her career. A documentary Bettie Page Reveals All looks at her life and influence.

The grandfather of RevolutionSF contributor Rick Klaw is photographer and director Irving Klaw. He produced burlesque features with Page, including Varietease.

"I never actually met Bettie. We exchanged a few emails through her agent and her responses were always polite and cordial. She always spoke highly of my family in general and my grandfather in specific. Her legacy to not only my family name but to the world of pop culture is incalculable. She will be missed." -- Rick Klaw
