RevolutionSF Newsblast is the only source for value-added sci-fi journalism, neither cut nor pasted. Today's sponsor: Caprica Cylon action figure! Barbie is Number Six.

Battlestar Galactica Prequel Gets Whole Morose Series

The BSG prequel Caprica is set for a series on Sci Fi in 2010, after BSG wraps up. I call it Battlestar Galactica: Before Things Were Rotten. Our delightful Trailer Probe covered the Caprica trailer. Eric Stolz fans in the house say ho.

Some Other Show About Time Travel Coming On

Flash Forward is based on a Robert Sawyer book. It's about when everyone sees the future for two minutes, then that vision "changes lives forever."

How far into the future are we talking about? "Oh God! I have that for lunch?"

Only Four More Months Until Reaper

Reaper is back March 17, 2009. There is nothing like waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting for a show to come on. I wish they would tell us nothing until like a day before it starts. That would be much better for me and my fragile psyche and lack of skill with the DVR.

Quickly Canceled Nathan Fillion and Quickly Canceled Show About Cupid Return

Cupid with all new people in it is on ABC March 24. Nathan Fillion will also have a new show where he plays a mystery writer who solves crimes, because writers are dashing and smart. Duh.

Everything else Fillion is in is canceled in one season. But this is not on Fox, it's back home to ABC for Fillion, who starred in Two Guys, A Girl, and a Pizza Place. Maybe they will treat him as a beloved prodigal son and keep his show on for two episodes.

Torchwood Guy Whipped It Out

John Barrowman, Captain Jack from Torchwood, was challenged to show his ding-dong on an interview show, and he obliged, because he is so polite. Apparently neither his hmmmm or his ha were seen on air, so no one panic. Then the BBC apologized, and Barrowman apologized, although only one person complained. Everyone else was busy writing fanfic about it.

First Street Fighter Movie Writer Not A Fan of First Street Fighter Movie

Steven de Souza says the new Street Fighter movie has to be better than the one he did, because the star will be only one character, Chun-Li, played by Lana from Smallville Kristin Kreuk. He said they were told to put everyone from the game in the original, and had to add a guy during the movie. This is fair warning for when they do the inevitable Pac-Man movie: Focus on Blinky.

Babylon 5 Guy Says Forbidden Planet "Not a Reimagining"

J. Michael Straczynski says his new Forbidden Planet movie is "not a remake. It's not a reimagining." But here's where he worries me: "It's not exactly a prequel." In other words: It's a prequel. If they do not put Leslie Nielsen in a skintight outfit again, I riot.

RevolutionSF's Joe Crowe is a die-hard Stoltz-a-maniac from way back.

What number appears here?

So... was Barrowman auditioning for the almost-certain-now remake of "Blazing Saddles"?

Joe, you tickled my funny bone. To hell with that restraining order!
