Orson Scott Card, Iron Man Comic Books Merge

Orson Scott Card, award-winning science fiction author of "Ender's Game," will write an award-seeking "Iron Man" comic book for Marvel.

"Ultimate Iron Man" is set for March 2005.

Card is a prolific science fiction writer, but has never before written a comic book.

This bucks the trend of Marvel Comics hiring writers from popular TV shows and movies. Card has actually written stories for books before.

It is rumored that Card got the "Iron Man" job after it was turned down by actress Christina Applegate and American Idol's Ruben Studdard.

News editor Joe Crowe, boot jets ablaze, he will fight and fight with repulsor rays! [No more 1960s Marvel cartoon theme song references, we promise.]
