Steven Bochco, the guy who brought naked asses to network TV with "NYPD Blue," will produce a series next fall called "NYPD Blue 2069," TV Guide said. (The story said it'd be on Fox, so you'll have to watch it quick.)
You'd think that references to the number "69" would stop being funny after awhile. But no. When 2069 gets here, are people going to walk around giggling to themselves all the time? "Hey Frank, tell me what year this is again."
The show will be about a cryogenically-frozen policeman from today who revives in 2069 to get even with "the man who ruined his life."
RevSF Movie Reviewing Person Jason Myers says, "So how old is this guy who ruined his life? Like 87? He wakes up, blows "the man who ruined his life" away, the guy's false teeth fly one way, his Depends fly another. End of TV show."
Dare we ask Steven Bochco to venture into sci-fi? He has already given us so much. Like sidal nudity, and female frontal boobity at about 85 percent (plus or minus 3 percent margin of error). And let us never forget: Dennis Franz's butt portraying the butt of cop Andy Sipowicz.
Jason Myers suspects that the show will feature a "large loud-mouthed character named Sipowicz, who is sort of like the original Sipowicz, but different in many unexpected and "futury" ways."
I'm only interested in how it will deal with the science of police work extrapolated 60 years into the future, and whether the whole police station's keisters and ta-tas will be flapping around, or what.
