This week may be the largest number of entries that make it in three degrees
that I have ever received. Corn on the cob for everyone!

with John Travolta (cameo). John Travolta was in Mad City with Alan Alda.

Potter. (findlayboy@yahoo.com)
Maggie Smith played the Headmistress in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's
Stone. She also was in The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood
with James Garner. James Garner played the Sheriff opposite Harry Morgan in
1969's Support Your Local Sheriff! Harry Morgan was Col. Potter. (c_calthrop@hotmail.com)
(Harry Morgan portrayed Col. Potter on M*A*S*H.) Harry Morgan was in
the animated movie Flight of the Dragons (1982) with James Earl Jones,
who was in Return of the Jedi with Warwick Davis, who was in Harry
Potter and the Sorceror's Stone (2001). (naguscook@aol.com)
If you want to go through the TV series M*A*S*H, Harry Morgan was with
Clint Eastwood way back in the '56 movie Star in the Dust.
And Eastwood got together with Richard Harris in Unforgiven. Harris being
Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
Going through the movie M*A*S*H, Robert Duvall was Major Frank
Burns. Richard Harris was Dumbledore in Harry Potter, and they appeared
together and argue a lot in Wrestling Ernest Hemingway in '93. You can
connect to the TV series in one more step, since Gary Burghoff
was in the TV series and the movie, putting him together with Robert Duvall
and thus to Richard Harris.
Or, here's an easy three-stepper from the TV show M*A*S*H. Jamie Farr
was in the TV series, and he was in the movie The Greatest Story Ever
Told with . . . well, just everyone in Hollywood. Who knew the Professor
from Gilligan's Island was a scribe in biblical times? John Wayne a Roman
Centurion? Or everyone's favorite Hollywood suspected killer du jour, Robert
Blake, as Simon Zealotes? But in this case, let's just pick one—Charlton
Heston, who then went on to star with Richard Harris in two flicks, Major
Dundee in '65 and Wreck of the Mary Deare in '59. And Harris of course
went on to play Albus Dumbledore in the first Harry Potter movie. (crow_steve@hotmail.com)
Two Mighty Degrees:
Harry Morgan was on Third Rock From The Sun. John Cleese guested on Third
Rock several times, and played Nearly Headless Nick in Harry Potter.
(ciaran_conliffe@hotmail.com)
Alan Alda of M*A*S*H appeared with Maggie Smith (Prof. MacGonagall)
in the movie California Suite in 1978. (rocketgirl85@yahoo.com)
Well, to show that no depth is too deep . . . In Mickey's Magic Christmas—Snowed
in at the House of Mouse, David Ogden Steirs (Dr. Charles Emerson Winchester
of M*A*S*H) [note from Joe: And live-action shirtless Martian
Manhunter! —end of note from Joe] did the voice of Cogsworth, and John
Cleese (Nearly Headless Nick) did the Narrator. (elsofer@jonesday.com)
